A FILM DEDICATED TO ALL CHILDREN OF THE WORLD.
– What are the details and finishing touches for the film to this day?
– I’d say that the film postproduction is almost complete. Avetis Ohanyan is now working on the sound – our compatriot living in Sweden is an excellent professional in his field. Overwriting and the computer graphics of the film is done in Moscow, the music is recorded in Switzerland – in fact, our team turned out to be very international …
We try to do our best, specifically regarding the technical saturation of the film, and therefore we have been looking for such specialists who would be able to meet our creative and technical standards for a long while. Our crew is already finalizing the film – I mean the computer graphics, color correction, sound. The soundtrack is already written and recorded in Switzerland – it was written by composer David Halajyan. By the way, one of the main musical themes of the film turned out to be so melodic and consonant with the film that composer David Halajyan wrote the lyrics to it. As a result we received a new song about Yerevan, which turned out to be so spirited and original that acquired its own life independent on the film. So we are going to shoot a clip for this song, so far there is only a record (the song is performed by M. Pogosyan and E. Mirzoyan’s quartet). I should state that it was an extraordinary pleasure for me to perform a song so harmonious, full of tender love for Yerevan … It seems to interlace the memories of the past, the city of our youth, and the hopes of tomorrow.
– When may our audience expect the premiere of the film?
-The point is that the film has a great festival future, we assume its participation in A class film festivals. That is why it can be shown to viewers on the big screen only after participating in a festival. Then the first opening night will be certainly held in Armenia – in Yerevan and in other cities, as well as in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. We are also planning to show the film in Russia, the US and some other countries. We will provide the extensive coverage of the film’s fate in the media and at press conferences. A closed show of the film’s final version for the crew will be held at the end of October.
Considering most of the topics touched upon by the current Armenian cinema the film is inherently unusual by its genre and style, especially, for Yerevan. We were primarily concerned with the human moral values. After all, the ability to perceive the pain of other people, the ability to help is especially important for our modern society. As for Lorik’s character, I realized long ago that the profession of an actor is in its essence a way to catharsis, an opportunity to become humane in the full sense of the word – not only on the stage or in cinema, not only while performing the role – but in real life, because there should be harmony between the individual perception of the world and the scene. Our film is based on real human dramas, and we decided to dedicate the film to all the children in the world, and to those who are able to sacrifice themselves for saving a human life. We tried to realize this dream, the desire to cure, help, save somebody, especially a child – at any cost. The film as well as all my recent works are firstly connected with the human element.
– What do you think, is our Armenian spectator ready to appreciate such a profound film, which deals with the moral values?
-I with deeply respect the Armenian audience. This is really a unique spectator, I emphasize this everywhere – both in Armenia and in the United States, for example, where I demonstrate my other works from time to time. I am more than sure that our viewers will be satisfied with our work and each of them will find something important in this film for himself.
